Robotics Finishes Top 20 At Worlds

The FIRST Robotics Team 1939 competed with nearly 450 of the best teams from all over the world. The team placed 16 out of 76 teams in their division.
Competing in robotics allows students to gain the skills and experiences that will directly translate into futures as engineers, scientists, doctors, business people, entrepreneurs and much more. Being a part of the FIRST World Championship is about how that experience inspires students to use their STEAM skills to take on tough challenges.

When the team was not competing, students had the opportunity to meet with representatives from MIT, Yale, Stanford, WPI, NASA, Disney Imagineers, UL, Boeing, the Department of Defense, multiple biomedical research companies and more. Students got to hear from FIRST founder and renowned inventor Dean Kamen, who said "the students in this room inspire me because you are the ones who will engineer a better world." They also participated in a behind-the-scenes guided tour of Rice University from Barstow alumnus and former team captain, Mark Lopatofsky '21.
